Hi there, I'm Gorkem Rahmioglu, simply GOU.

I'm a queer potter born in Istanbul, now based in London with over six years of experience working with clay. I’ve worked alongside master potters and completed one-to-one wheel-throwing training.

At the core of my practice is wheel throwing, alongside hand-building and working with molds. I’m drawn to experimentation and enjoy exploring the unpredictable nature of clay, with a particular focus on combining clay with natural materials. Through this approach, I actively push material limits, allowing process, chance, and material interaction to shape the final outcome.

I’ve completed a glaze course and regularly develop my own glaze recipes to explore colour. I’ve also worked with primitive firing methods, including pit firing, embracing the variability and physicality of these processes.

Stones are a constant source of inspiration in my work. Collected over many years, their textures, colours, and quiet endurance often find their way into my forms, sometimes subconsciously.

In parallel with my artistic journey, I give workshops and monthly classes for both adults and children, inviting them to explore creativity through hand-building and wheel throwing.

That’s a glimpse of me. Thank you for being here. <3
